PICK YOUR OWN DATE! SUMMER THROUGH FOLIAGE & OKTOBERFEST AT HONORA VINEYARD, WEST HALIFAX, VERMONT


We begin with a stop at the Apple Barn and Country Store in Bennington, Vt. Browse through wagons filled with Vermont cheese and maple syrup and delight in their bake shop with over 40 homemade treats. Enjoy coffee and an apple cider donut, then take a narrated bus ride to the top of a 300-acre apple orchard to view the most spectacular scenery of Southern Vermont. Continue our “taste” to Honora Winery where they take pride in producing exceptional Vermont wines by growing cold-hardy grapes. You will enjoy the spectacular view of 3 different states from this beautiful vineyard! Tasting 4 different wines is enjoyed in a beautiful, 6,000-sq.-ft. event center. The French doors that surround the building allow beautiful views in every direction.

Lunch at the Honora Vineyard where everything is local and seasonal.

On the way home, take a full tour at the Bennington Pottery Barn, Bennington, Vt., where you can watch these beautiful pieces being made!

LIGHTHOUSE CRUISE & OLDE MYSTIC VILLAGE



Board the comfortable, high-speed Sea Jet in New London, Ct. A smooth-sailing, wave-piercing catamaran capable of cruising at speeds in excess of 30 knots (35 mph), the Sea Jet is equipped with modern, airline-style seating on two enclosed, air-conditioned passenger decks with spacious outdoor decks. The 8-lighthouse tour is narrated by former Navy man and sailor Ted Webb, who grew up on Long Island Sound and knows all the history and stories of the 8 lighthouses you’ll see as you cross from New London to the shores of Long Island, N.Y. A very nice box lunch will be provided to enjoy during your cruise. After the cruise another treat! A favorite stop at Olde Mystic Village, Mystic, Ct. This is a very unique shopping experience in a quaint village setting you will thoroughly enjoy!

8:00 AM: Depart for Bennington, Vt. to the Apple Barn & Country Bake Shop for shopping and coffee.

11:30 AM: Arrive at the The New England House, Brattleboro, Vt. for their famous Vermont Feast, Vermont turkey and ham with all the trimmings! All the ingredients, down to the butter are local, fresh and delicious.

2:00 PM: Nestled in the rolling foothills of southern Vermont lies a 650-acre horse farm where some of the most beautiful horses in the world are born and bred. Tour the beautiful European-style stables and meet these gentle giants up close and personal. Enjoy a fantastic, choreographed musical horse show from your seat in the indoor ring where these beauties show off their skills...and then marvel as a majestic Friesian romps, runs and plays at liberty!

4:30 PM: Visit Grafton Cheese Shop and Factory, Brattleboro, Vt. The Grafton Cooperative Cheese Company was founded in 1892 by dairy farmers who gathered together in a cooperative to make their surplus raw milk into cheese. In the days before refrigeration, there were many such cooperatives in the rural agricultural communities and an abundance of fresh, creamy milk was turned into a food that could be stored for a longer period of time.

A TASTE OF NEW ENGLAND: ONE-NIGHT TWO-DAY MYSTIC AND ESSEX CT. EXCURSION



DAY 1
Visit Mystic Seaport, the nation’s leading maritime museum and home to the Charles W. Morgan, the last wooden whaleship in the world. Explore American maritime history first-hand as you climb aboard tall ships, stroll through a 19th-century coastal village, discover exhibits, and watch a working preservation shipyard in action.

That evening you are in for a taste treat at the Waterfront Restaurant in New London, Ct. You will dine in an elegant, private dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows affording you a beautiful view of the harbor on the Connecticut River. Great food! Choice from menu!

DAY 2
After a great night’s sleep at the Holiday Inn in Mystic and a bountiful, hot breakfast, you will depart for Essex, Ct., where you will enjoy a 3-course lunch aboard a restored1920’s Pullman dining car as part of a 3.75 hour lunch, train and riverboat sightseeing excursion! Their attentive staff will transport you back to an era when rail travel was king and eating in the “diner” was a special occasion! This beautiful car is complete with table linens and beautifully outfitted waiters and of course a full bar! Enjoy all of this while you travel aboard the train along the lower Connecticut River Valley.

At Deep River Landing, transfer to The Becky Thatcher riverboat for a cruise on the Connecticut River, bursting with lush scenery and historic sights. Before departing for home, visit historic Essex

6:15 PM: Steps from your front door to the front door of the elegant Delaney House, where a delicious experience is awaiting you. The atmosphere and food are beyond compare and why shouldn’t they be! The Delaney House is owned and operated by the owners of the Log Cabin. Then enjoy an after-dinner drink on the Delaney House terrace or enjoy the living room or pool at the D. Hotel. Or add on $10.00 for after-dinner entertainment.

DAY 2
7:00 to 9:00 AM: Complimentary hotel breakfast including scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage are some of the choices!

9:00 AM: Visit Atkins Farm for apples, cider, pumpkins and home baked pies

11:30 AM: Arrival Log Cabin Banquet and Meeting House

12:00 PM: Log Cabin’s famous LOBSTERFEAST!

2:00 PM: It’s SHOWTIME AT THE LOG CABIN! LOBSTER FEAST WITH any of our Lobster Feast shows throughout the summer, or make this a spectacular fall foliage trip with our Oktoberfest show with the “The Schnitzel Brothers”!

3:00 PM: Depart for a visit to the Christmas Tree Shop on the way home after a very elegant and exciting getaway, New England style!

ESSEX LUNCHEON STEAM TRAIN AND RIVERBOAT EXCURSION


All aboard the Essex Steam Train where you will enjoy a 3-course lunch aboard a restored 1920’s Pullman dining car as part of a 3.75 hour lunch, train and riverboat sightseeing excursion! Their attentive staff will transport you back to an era when rail travel was king and eating in the “diner” was a special occasion! This beautiful car is complete with table linens and beautifully outfitted waiters and, of course, a full bar.

Upon boarding the dining car, you’ll savor a hot lunch that is prepared and cooked on board. Travel aboard the train along the lower Connecticut River Valley while you finish your meal. At Deep River Landing, transfer to the Becky Thatcher riverboat for a cruise on the Connecticut River, bursting with lush scenery and historic sights such as Gillette Castle. Following your cruise, return to Essex Station aboard one of our coach passenger cars.

We’re not through yet! After your excursion visit the Historic Village of Essex.

On Main Street, village shops and early Colonial and Federal-era homes jostle side by side. A short stroll quickly reveals why Essex was named the “Perfect Small American Town” in 1,000 Places to See Before You Die. Another guidebook names Essex #1 on its list of “The 100 Best Small Towns in America.”

NEWPORT TOUR


DAY 1
7:00 AM: Depart. After lunch on your own along the way, we are ready to explore beautiful, historic Newport, R.I.

1:00 PM: We will embark on a 3-hour narrated tour featuring stops at locations used for movie sets back in the day! The tour starts in downtown Newport and ends with a stop at the Breakers Mansion! The Breakers was built as the Newport summer home of Cornelius Vanderbilt II, a member of the wealthy United States Vanderbilt family. This is one of the many Gilded Age mansions used as set locations in such movies as Amistad, Mr. North, True Lies, Moonrise Kingdom, The Great Gatsby, High Society, Irrational Man and more!

5:30 PM: Check in at the Holiday Inn in Middletown close to historic Newport. Welcome reception featuring cookies and punch upon arrival. Dinner at Chili’s Grill and Bar for delicious food and drink specials; EASY walking distance on the hotel property.

DAY 2
7:00–9:00 AM: Complete hot and cold continental breakfast including eggs, sausage, bacon, etc., at the hotel. This morning you are going to explore Newport’s Brick Market Place. The Brick Market Place is a year-round destination nestled in the heart of Newport. Containing over 25 unique shops and eateries, Brick Market Place is a must for visitors and locals alike.

1:00 PM: Quansett, R.I.: Take a narrated cruise past 10 Rhode Island lighthouses in Narragansett Bay along with a complete Newport Harbor tour. This 30-mile cruise also takes you past 10 beautiful islands, under the breathtaking Jamestown and Newport bridges, past mansions, historic Fort Adams and many other famous Rhode Island landmarks.

3:00 PM: Marble House was built by Mr. Vanderbilt for Mrs. Vanderbilt’s 39th birthday! It was a summer house, or “cottage,” as Newporters called them; another movie set location.

5:00 PM: After this busy day, it’s back to the hotel to freshen up, then off for a fabulous dinner experience at the Atlantic Beach Club.

DAY 3
10:00 AM: After a delicious breakfast and before we depart for home, we will visit Touro Synagogue, a must-see stop! Named a National Historic Site in 1946, this building’s story plays a huge role in Newport history.

After the synagogue, we will drop you back at The Brick Market Place for last-minute shopping and lunch. A great place for your last visit in Newport!
